This involves identifying direct environmental impacts (like emissions from a factory floor) and indirect impacts (like the environmental footprint of purchased materials or employee commuting). Step 6: Registration and public registration

Once verified, the validated statement is registered and made publicly available, and the organization can use the EMAS logo. Registration is managed at the national level through each EU country’s competent body, which maintains an official register of all EMAS-registered organizations. This creates a transparent, publicly searchable database that stakeholders-customers, regulators, investors-can access to verify a company’s environmental credentials.

Ongoing maintenance and re-registration

EMAS registration isn’t forever; organizations must continuously improve and undergo regular re-verification.
